The ringtone workflow, minus the sketchy sites

How do I set the cut as an iPhone ringtone?

Cut with M4R output (keep it under 40 seconds — the tool warns you). Connect the iPhone and drag the .m4r into Finder (macOS) or iTunes (Windows) onto the phone; it appears under Settings → Sounds → Ringtone. Apple allows no direct download route — every ringtone site has this same last step.

And on Android?

Easier: cut as MP3, copy it to the phone (or download directly on the phone — this site works fine on mobile), and pick it under Settings → Sound → Phone ringtone.

Why the fades?

A raw cut starts and stops mid-waveform — you hear it as a click or an abrupt jolt. The 0.8-second fades make any cut sound intentional. Turn them off for surgical edits.
