Instagram shows feed images up to 1080 px wide and gives 4:5 portrait posts the most screen space. Stories and Reels are 9:16; keep text inside the middle 1080×1420 so the UI does not cover it.

Instagram displays feed images at up to 1080 px wide and gives 4:5 portrait posts (1080×1350) the most screen space; squares (1080×1080) still work, landscape posts are 1080×566, and stories and Reels are full-screen 9:16 (1080×1920). Uploading at exactly these sizes means Instagram recompresses far less than when it has to shrink a 4000 px photo itself. For stories, keep text out of the top and bottom 250 px where the username and reply bar sit.
Every Instagram size on this page, verified for 2026: Story / Reel cover 1080×1920 px (9:16 · up to 30 MB), Portrait post 1080×1350 px (4:5 · recommended), Square post 1080×1080 px (1:1), Landscape post 1080×566 px (1.91:1), Carousel 1080×1350 px (4:5 · up to 20 slides), Profile photo 320×320 px (1:1 · shown as a circle). Each card is a live preview of your image in that frame — drag to reposition, slide between Fit (whole image, background added) and Fill (frame covered, edges cropped), then download the one you need or every size as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded; the rendering runs in your browser.
Export as JPG at quality 85–90 — Instagram converts everything to JPEG anyway, and a correctly sized, cleanly encoded file gives the sharpest result. If a photo is very different in shape from 4:5, use Fit with a white or coloured background instead of Fill so nothing important is cropped.
1080 px wide. Portrait posts are 1080×1350 (4:5), squares 1080×1080, landscape 1080×566. Stories and Reels are 1080×1920 (9:16). Instagram downsizes anything wider to 1080, so uploading larger only invites extra compression.
JPG or PNG for Instagram?
JPG at quality 85–90. Instagram re-encodes uploads as JPEG; a PNG is larger to upload and gains nothing. Keep colours in sRGB.
Will my photo be cropped?
Only if you choose Fill. Each card has a slider: Fit shows the whole photo with a background colour, Fill covers the frame and trims the edges — and you can drag the preview to decide which part is kept. Nothing is ever stretched.

Most online converters upload your file to a server. InfyTool ships the actual encoders to your browser as WebAssembly instead, so processing happens inside your tab — faster for batches, and nothing to delete afterwards.
No upload, ever. Turn off Wi-Fi after the page loads and every tool keeps working.
