When the page is text, line art or a form: PNG keeps letter edges perfectly crisp where JPG adds faint artefacts. For photo-heavy pages, JPG or WebP gives far smaller files at the same visible quality.
PNG is lossless, and a 300 DPI A4 page is over 8 megapixels. Use 150 DPI unless the images will be printed or heavily zoomed.
