Do layers survive?
The output is the flattened image — exactly what the PSD looks like with all layers visible. Layer structure only exists inside Photoshop-compatible editors; for a shareable image, flattened is what you want.
Why did my PSD fail to convert?
Very old PSDs, CMYK-mode files and some heavily-featured documents (smart objects rendered only by Photoshop) may not decode. Files saved with “Maximize compatibility” convert most reliably.
