1920×1080 is the 16:9 Full HD frame — the size of most monitors, TVs, presentation slides and YouTube video. Backgrounds, slide images and video stills need to match it exactly to avoid letterboxing or stretching. Photos that are not 16:9 are never stretched: Fill crops the long edges (drag to choose which part stays), Fit keeps everything and adds a background — black works well for wallpapers and video. PNG or JPG at 90 keeps gradients smooth; WebP at 85 is smallest for the web.

Frequently asked questions

Will resizing to 1920×1080 crop my image?

You decide. Fill covers the whole frame and crops whatever overflows (drag the preview to pick the region); Fit shows the entire image and fills the rest with a background colour. Nothing is stretched or squashed either way.

Should I upscale a smaller image to 1920×1080?

Only if you must — upscaling adds no detail, just softness. Frames on this page always output the exact size, so a small source will be enlarged; start from an image at least 1920 px wide when you can.

Which format for a wallpaper?

PNG for pixel-perfect graphics, JPG at 90 for photographs, WebP if the target supports it (Windows 11 and macOS do).
