A real sketch, not a flat filter

Most "sketch" filters just lower the saturation and call it done. This uses the technique that actually works: the photo is desaturated, a blurred inverse of it is colour-dodged back over the top, and the whole thing is pushed toward white paper. The result has genuine pencil-like edges that follow the contours of the face or object, and the darkness slider takes it from a faint hint to bold graphite.

Portraits and clear-subject photos with decent contrast sketch best; very dark or busy images come out muddy. Everything renders on a canvas in your browser at full resolution, so the photo never leaves your device. For the plain monochrome look instead, there's black & white.

Frequently asked questions

How does the sketch effect work?

It uses the classic technique artists’ filters use: the photo is desaturated, a blurred inverse is colour-dodged over it, and the result is pushed toward white “paper.” That produces real pencil-like edges instead of a flat overlay. Darkness sets how bold the lines are, Line detail how fine, and Edge ink adds crisp outlines on top.

Can I change the pencil colour or drop the paper?

Yes — pick graphite, charcoal, blue or sepia for the ink, and turn on “Transparent (ink only)” to export just the strokes on a transparent PNG, so the sketch sits over any background or colour.

What photos work best?

Portraits and clear-subject shots with good contrast sketch beautifully. Very dark or very busy photos come out muddy — a brighter, simpler image gives cleaner lines.

Is my photo uploaded?

No — the effect is computed on a canvas in your browser at full resolution, and the image never leaves your device.

Your files never leave your device

Most online converters upload your file to a server. InfyTool ships the actual encoders to your browser as WebAssembly instead, so processing happens inside your tab — faster for batches, and nothing to delete afterwards.

  • No upload, ever. Turn off Wi-Fi after the page loads and every tool keeps working.
  • No limits. No file-size cap, no queue, no watermark, no account.
  • Runs on your CPU. Batches use several cores in parallel; nothing is throttled.
